In 2016, the famous Italian designer Davide Groppi launched his Infinito Wall Light, consisting of a thin line with fixators at both ends to express the space with more flexible light. Today, this skyline design set has been embraced by modern spaces around the world. Lipal took this inspiration and launched the Sliding lighting series – the Spacewalk System, after two years of research and development. It allows light to extend freely in architectural, commercial, and residential spaces.
What is a Sliding Light System?
Sliding light is a set of 48V low-voltage systems made of aluminum alloy as the main material. Consisting of luminaires, curly wire, tension cable, system power boxes, and rope bases, It can be flexibly installed in any interior space through different accessories. According to the position that needs to be illuminated, the lighting fixtures can be moved to any position on the tension cable by sliding.
What are the specific parts of the Sliding lighting System?
The system can be divided into three parts according to its function: lighting fixtures, system feed, and system mechanical joint; let me introduce them in detail below:
- Luminaires(lighting fixtures) Made of aluminum alloy, the Spacewalk System currently includes two fixtures, one is a 10W flood light with a beam angle of 110°, and the other is a 5W spotlight with a beam angle of 26°. The two luminaires can be slid freely; both support 360° angle adjustment and illuminate any direction. With brigelux chip, the whole light is Ra90, 3000K/4000K/5000K color temperature optional, apart from the conventional sand white and sand black, we can also do gold and nickel. We are now in contact with global designers for this part and will extend more fixtures to this system shortly.\
- System Feed This series consists of 4 accessories, namely the system feed cable- (the curly wire) and three power boxes commonly used in the ceiling/wall/floor, depending on the horizontal or vertical installation
What are the installation ways for the Sliding Light System?
There are two primary installation methods, vertical and horizontal mounting, which you can choose depending on the space requirements; wall to wall, wall to floor, wall to ceiling, or ceiling to floor, etc.
Does the system support dimming or tunable white?
Currently, the Spacewalk System 1.0 does not support these options, but we are working on it and will release a 2.0 upgrade.
